Attention lawyers, information officers, and commercial decision-makers! Are you looking to take your data protection expertise to the next level? Look no further than our online “Data processing agreements hackathon”.

The law requires DPAs

We all know that data protection laws, whether POPIA, the GDPR or CCPA, require controllers (responsible parties) to have data processing agreements with their processors (operators). And this agreement usually focuses on data security and breach notifications.

No established guidance

But, beyond standard contractual clauses, there’s not much guidance on:

  • what these agreements should look like
  • what they should contain
  • how you should manage them, and
  • how to deal with their pain points during negotiations so you protect your organisation from risk.

Without expert guidance on these agreements, you’ll typically receive multiple variations of these agreements, and negotiations are really the wild west.

But it doesn’t have to be so…

How to become an expert

We’ve spent years dealing with data processing agreements (even before most data protection laws existed). We’ve also researched, applied and contributed to the global best practices for these agreements.

And we want to share our expertise with you—in an interactive hackathon—so you can elevate how you deal with these agreements.

So, join us on 20th June 2023 from 10 am to 12 pm SAST.
