We can help resolve domain name disputes or cybersquatting, and assist with the transfer of a domain name. There is a significant amount of law that relates to domain names, and it has become a specialised area. We have extensive expertise and practical experience with domain names. We have been involved in many domain name disputes over many years.  It is one of our focus areas.

We can help you defend yourself or get the domain you want.

How can we help you with domain name disputes?

Our services will help you to:

  1. Get a domain name that you want. We can advise you on the best approach to obtain a domain. We can draft and send a Letter of Demand if necessary to a registrant. We can also draft and lay a complaint against an abusive registration.
  2. Protect your trademarks, brand and business.
  3. Defend yourself against a person who demands that you transfer a domain to them. We can provide you with an opinion on:
    1. who the lawful registrant is of a specific domain name,
    2. your chances of successfully defending and retaining your domain name, or
    3. your best strategy to defend yourself. If they lay a complaint against you, we can draft and file a response to it.
  4. Transfer (or sell) a domain name by concluding a Domain Name Transfer Agreement.
  5. Lease a domain name to someone by concluding a Domain Name Lease Agreement.
  6. We provide domain name escrow services (acting as an escrow agent). For top-level domains (such as .com), it is best to use an online escrow agent (like escrow.com). However, for .co.za domains, there is no online escrow agent available. We can therefore perform that role on your behalf.
