We’re creating a space for interested people and stakeholders to come and talk about cybercrimes in the South African context. This is important because fighting crime takes a coordinated effort between the prosecuting authority, the police, forensic experts, lawyers and other different role players. We need to talk to each other so that we can coordinate and cooperate.
The Cybercrimes Act
The Cybercrimes Act is a new law that’s come into force. As with any new law, it requires organisational change and sometimes, support to implement the legal principles to comply. Implementing the law must be practical, which is one of the challenges South African companies face. South African organisations have a lot of problems to solve. We want to create a space for people to come together and identify workplace challenges and collectively find solutions. When people work together, it will result in people committing fewer cybercrimes in South Africa and South Africa being a better country.
