We do meet people in-person and often they are important. But many times an online meeting is just as good and often even better than an in-person meeting. By in-person meeting, we mean a meeting where the attendees are physically present in the same room. It is possible to have a face-to-face meeting both online or in-person.
The benefits of online meetings
- Save time by having no travel time. Less travel means fewer carbon emissions, which helps the climate crisis.
- Show others various things by sharing your screen.
- Take fewer notes by being are able to record the session if all agree.
- Meet more often and sooner because online meetings allow greater flexibility.
What you need to participate
We use zoom, skype or the phone. With zoom, there is nothing you need other than a laptop (or a desktop with a mic and speakers). We can always set up a face to face meeting after the online meeting if necessary. We have invested in good quality microphones, cameras and speakers to make sure you can hear and see us, and we’re able to hear you.
When is an in-person meeting necessary?
- For contentious discussions.
- For meeting for the first time.
- For negotiating the final outstanding issues in a contract.
