He is not an attorney, but he provides the necessary insight to assist clients on a multidisciplinary basis. Jan has integrity and is a safe pair of hands. He is a good communicator with excellent interpersonal skills. 

Jan is an expert in the deployment of GRC software or legaltech that helps clients achieve compliance outcomes more quickly and efficiently.

When Michalsons clients outsource the responsibilities of the Information Officer to Michalsons, Jan is often the lead with the client for the Information Office as a Service (IOaaS) that Michalsons provides.

Jan ensures that Michalsons clients successfully reach the outcomes they seek. He ensures that programmes are successful by ensuring the most appropriate person or tools are used to deliver on time and within budget. Jan is a compliance programme transformation enabler, ensuring controls are simplified, automated, and integrated into business operations. Jan focuses on data management, data protection or privacy, access to information, cybersecurity, and trustworthy AI.

Jan has extensive experience in data protection enablement and training having headed the data protection project at a large multinational company.

Jan is an expert in the deployment of GRC software, privacy management or legaltech (like OneTrust, and Microsoft Purview and Priva) to help Michalsons clients achieve compliance outcomes quicker and faster. He has extensive experience helping clients in selecting, implementing, and using legal tech.

When Michalsons clients outsource the responsibilities of the Information Officer to Michalsons, Jan is often the lead with the client for the Information Office as a Service (IOaaS) that Michalsons provides. He is an experienced Information Officer who can build a team and ensure that the head of the client (CEO or MD) meets their legal responsibilities.

Jan Bakker is a privacy programme transformation enabler, ensuring data privacy operations are simplified, automated, and integrated into the business operations.

Delivering in IT Management roles since 1998, with over 10 years in SAP projects and operations in both corporate and consulting roles. Jan Bakker possesses a strong understanding of IT strategy and combines information technology and data protection law expertise to navigate data management, compliance, and security, effectively addressing issues in data-driven environments.

Jan has 26 years of experience in software development projects and deployment.

A PMP-certified professional with more than 20 years of project management experience, including six years directing the Privacy Program at a major international automotive company’s regional headquarters. Accountable for all privacy initiatives, he successfully implemented and operationalised Privacy with the OneTrust platform, significantly enhancing data protection and ensuring compliance.

Currently focused on Trustworthy and Responsible AI Governance and Data Security Posture Management, demonstrating a forward-thinking approach to emerging technology.

Jan Bakker thrives on learning and has completed many courses and qualifications over his career.

He holds qualifications in project management and recognises the importance of continuous learning in the rapidly evolving information universe.

He is currently enrolled and will complete courses provided by the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP) addressing Certified Information Protection Management and AI Governance in 2025.
