A POPI Act executive briefing is essential to do early on in your POPI project. It is very important that you brief your executive or board correctly on the impact that the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPI Act or POPI) will have on your organisation. They need to have an accurate, high-level balanced view of what POPI is and what the impact will be on the organisation. Some executives have read articles in the press or heard rumours, which makes them concerned. Often the concern is unfounded. It is important for the executives to be briefed properly.
They must lead the development of successful compliance programs or projects and be able to explain them to boards of directors, investors, business partners and the general public. The briefing will help executives leverage their compliance efforts into positive public relations and business benefit. It is a shortened version of our full day POPI Act workshop. They need to know things like:

- What could happen if you do not comply?

They need to be briefed in plain language and only the big picture – the high-level view. It is often hard to give someone the high-level view – the essentials that they need to know. The presentation should be no longer than 45 minutes (plus questions) and the handout no longer than three pages.
